Privacy Policy
Family Deck Of Cards is designed so that your personal deck stays private and under your control.
No account required
You do not need to create an account or sign in to build a deck or play the game.
Your deck stays on your device
Photos, names, biographies, memories, scores, and Memory Journey data are saved in your browser's local storage on your own device. They are not uploaded to or stored on our servers, and the developer cannot see or access them.
Clearing browser data, changing browsers, or losing the device may erase this information. The app's offline feature stores app files on your device so the app can open without a connection; it does not track you.
Exported decks
If you export a deck to move or back it up, the exported file contains your photos and personal information. You are responsible for keeping that file safe and sharing it only with people you trust.
Tracking, cookies, and technical errors
We do not currently use advertising cookies or general-purpose analytics to follow how you use the app. The app does not set its own tracking cookies.
If the app encounters a technical error, limited diagnostic details, such as the error and the page where it occurred, may be sent to our app-hosting provider so the problem can be investigated. Your photos and deck content are not included in this reporting.
Payments
If you choose to subscribe, payments are processed directly by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Stripe handles your payment details under its own privacy practices. This app never sees or stores your credit card number.
To confirm your access to paid features, we store limited purchase information on our servers: the email address used at checkout, your license code, subscription status, and payment references from Stripe. Your photos and deck content are never part of this.
If you use the "Find my license code" page, your code is only ever sent to the email address on the subscription — it is never shown on screen.
Story polish (optional AI feature)
The optional "Polish & Generate Questions" button on a card sends only the story text you typed or dictated to a third-party AI service (Google Gemini, reached through our app-hosting provider's secure gateway) so it can tidy the wording and suggest recall questions. This happens only when you tap the button — never automatically.
Photos are never sent. The story text is used only for that single request and is not stored in any database or log on our side. Because stories may mention family members by name, only use this feature with text you're comfortable sharing with an AI service — the rest of the app works fully without it.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy if the app's privacy practices change. The current version will always appear on this page.
